July 23rd Beach Report
July 23, 3:30 p.m. – All Beaches Open; Oil Moving Away
Posted on July 23, 2010 by South Walton Update
All 15 of our beach communities are open for enjoyment and we’ve received no reports of tar balls washing ashore today. Beachgoers are encouraged to exercise caution in the water as yellow flags signifying moderate surf conditions continue to fly over the beaches.
According to NOAA reports, overflights and aerial imagery indicate the surface oil is continuing to break up into numerous patches. The latest NOAA trajectory has the oil plume moving away from our shores throughout the weekend.
